A literature review on oriental medical treatment research in neurodegenerative diseases

Abstract

|
Objective : In this study, we intend to analyze previous studies on herbal medicine and acupuncture in Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease models to help future animal and clinical trials.
Method : Searched several literatures published within the last 5 years using key words such as ‘alzheimer’, ‘parkinson’, ’acupuncture’, ‘herbal medicine’, ‘oriental medicine’, ‘Korean medicine’, ‘Traditional medicine’ and ‘Medicinal herb’ in google scholar (https://scholar.google.co.kr).
Result and Conclusion : A survey of the rates of herbal medicine and acupuncture treatment in the Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease models found that both diseases had more acupuncture treatments than herbal medicine.
